From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a exciting storyline including angels, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
Hence, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented narrative style where diplomatic options are rare.
At first glance, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the team knows exactly where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then cleared his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The cleric turned against House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- The target is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to head to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
