19 of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his maiden championship for over two years with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.
The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a difficult season, winning just one match at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with former trainer Cervara.
Currently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - culminating in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's first championship after the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court from that period of 2023.
Victory also means Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in Halle previously this season.
The player's retrieving play style and regular emotional displays on court had caused commentators to doubt if his capacity to perform at the elite level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.
The champion recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a close third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.
Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent failing to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
