An individual who contaminated sweets with sedative and distributed them to children at a youth camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and 10.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight minors and an older person became sick at the location in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the courthouse on Friday.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, outlined the criminal behavior to the judicial body.
She said his targets were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer camp which he managed.
Ruben conducted a "candy game" with the children, the legal counsel said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to consume candy "rapidly".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and children had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She stated Ruben had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overexcited from fun", until his stepchild had worries in recently.
Mrs Prior KC continued: "This year his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The prosecutor said materials including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild notified the police about his suspicions.
She stated the man continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that time - that Saturday - and they were all sick the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, had stated that it was investigating Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior said the children were having difficulty walking due to being ill, so the stepson notified the authorities once more.
She said the defendant then conducted the "treat game" in a area of five youngsters.
